I don’t know why, but I always get a little excited for a Friday the 13th. Maybe it’s because, when I was younger, my mom would say that she believed the number 13 was actually lucky for our family. Ever since then, I’ve always expected something big and exciting to happen.

Today being one of those Fridays, I was inspired to share some things—seven, to be exact (because that’s my lucky number)—that I am feeling excited and lucky to have and enjoy right now.

1. Pumpkin spice lattés (and 2. a chance to wear red nails/fun nail art).

3. My adorable nephew, Holt Parkes, who is visiting with my half-brother Jesse and his wife Carolyn for the weekend.

4. A chance to catch a movie at TIFF for the first time. Britt and I saw the world premiere of director Tommy Oliver’s debut film, 1982. It was the first time even his own mother had seen it (and it was based mostly on her past addiction to crack cocaine). Actress Alfre Woodard was also in attendance – you might know her as Betty Applewhite from Desperate Housewives.

5. Butternut squash soup.

6. A new daytimer to stay organized, even though I am no longer in school.

7. Brunch with my best friends (see you tomorrow, ladies!).
